Yesterday I got a text from one of my favorite young people, inviting me to come out to paint with her and another friend.
My former students in Rochester have coalesced into a chapter of New York Plein Air Painters. They call themselves Greater Rochester Plein Air Painters and they’re off to a great start. They paint together as a group, and they call each other to paint on other days as well. Meanwhile, I’m painting trim and meeting with contractors.
It was a perfect day to paint, but I’m sticking to my schedule as tightly as I stick to my diet the day after Christmas. That meant I power-washed and scraped while they painted. I so want to get back to my little house in Rockport and away from this rehab project.
It was warm enough to be out-of-doors wearing shorts and a sleeveless shirt. I worked and whistled and contented myself with thinking of other autumn days when I’ve been painting.
It’s my favorite season, regardless of what I’m doing.
